Grade SS 431 is the martensitic and heat treatable grade with good corrosion resistance, high tensile strength, torque strength, toughness properties. These steels owing to yielding strength can’t be cold-worked, thus suitable for operations like deep drawing, cold heading, and spinning. The fabrication of the martensitic steel is carried out generally out using the techniques allowing tempering treatment and hardening and poor weldability. The corrosion resistance property of the grade is low than the austenitic grade. The 431 by the strength loss at greater temp is limited and because of over-tempering and ductility loss at negative temp.
